We believe that movement should feel good. 

But when we're physically limited by pain, immobility, fatigue, neglect, over-use or trauma, that reality feels far from the truth. Our bodies can feel heavy, burdened, awkward and uncomfortable. Movement feels unreachable and undesirable. Through specialized movement coaching, we transform that reality. You do have the ability to thrive in a body that feels physically liberated -- free of pain and limitation. It's yours to experience once you step into your strength.

 

If we could see "exercise" as a healing, exploratory, expansive, & communicative practice with one's body, how would that change the experience?

Movement is medicine.

We have successfully and efficiently helped hundreds of individuals with their physical struggles. A few of the conditions we've encountered:

Obesity, low back pain, poor posture, sciatica, joint pain, shoulder impingement, arthritis, autoimmune diseases, cancer, poor flexibility, strength or mobility, collapsed arches, pre-operative and post-operative, scoliosis, disc herniation, traumatic accidents, generalized degenerative disorders...

We help you experience your physical strength, regardless of where you're starting (you are never "too far gone").

We quickly help you regain confidence & safety again in movement (you are stronger than you think).

We rapidly get you into your body and out of your head to facilitate self-healing (learning to listen is crucial).

We teach you how to be an incredible caretaker of your body (you are a "student" of your body in this work).

And we inspire you to be grateful of your physical abilities, regardless of circumstance (your body is amazing, right now).

We typically work in concert with other professionals such as physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, personal trainers, yoga instructors, or psychologists. We do not see individuals with acute injuries, nor do we treat or diagnose any disease or disorder.

Meet your coach.

Jess Mather, Cpt, Lpta, Sfg is an internationally-known movement professional with over eight years of experience supporting hundreds upon hundreds of individuals heal their body through strength & movement. From working with clients from 9 to over 99, she has repeatedly witnessed the body's incredible ability to adapt, strengthen and heal regardless of circumstance.

Jess has been working as an online coach for over three years with a specialization in pain management, skilled kettlebell work, and body awareness techniques. She stands for the physical autonomy and physical liberation of all individuals so they can live empowered, unrestricted lives.

Our Guiding Principles:

 

THE BODY ALWAYS SEEKS SAFETY.

Symptoms are our body's language, and its most basic request is a primitive desire for safety. If the body perceives threat (real or not), it will "let us know" through a myriad of symptoms that we typically deem as undesirable. When we can better understand what these messages are telling us by becoming a "student" of our body, we can decrease symptoms and improve our abilities sometimes instantly.

Movement coaching is a collaborative effort. While we may be pulling from years of experience and knowledge from several movement disciplines, your individual body's response is always our number one guide.

STRENGTH HEALS.

If the body requires safety to be healthy and functional, then strength is its ally. Strength is grounding, stabilizing and therapeutic for the nervous system. Through skilled strength work using mainly kettlebells and bodyweight, we can create incredible resilience that will reduce the risk of injury, decrease pain, and improve ease of movement.

The movements we practice in coaching are fundamentally human -- movements you've already performed thousands of time in your lifetime. We just refine the way it's done and add load so we can restore healthy, pain-free and limitless movement easily.

So how does this all work?

We typically combine two services: online coaching + online training.

 

What is online movement coaching?

Online movement coaching are private sessions via webcam using Zoom software. The suggested frequency of these sessions are dependent on a multitude of factors including current limitations, exercise experience, pain, and accountability. 

Typically, we suggest 1-2 coaching sessions per week for the first 1-3 months to teach your body how to move well with and without added load in the form of kettlebells. As your negative symptoms decrease and self-efficacy in your movement increases, we suggest weaning off the coaching and start to implement more online training (see next video).

Investment: $55-85/session


What is online training?

Online training is typically used in conjunction with online coaching, depending on the client. Online training is a customized exercise program delivered via Trainerize software. Through this software, you have 24/7 access to your private training database on any device with options to schedule, track or share your workouts. Each workout clearly lays out your reps, sets, weight, and rest breaks with exercise videos & descriptions. Customized online training is updated weekly with contact throughout the week as needed. 

Investment: $220/month

I have gotten way more toned in my body just in the four weeks of doing your program than I did doing Insanity [Beachbody]. Even more important than that, my body FEELS BETTER.

Once we lay down the foundation for safe, pain-free and healthy movement, we start to accelerate your strength and fitness with online training protocols. You can expect to get "toned" (fat loss + muscle gain) with only about 3-4 days per week of 20-40 minutes with kettlebells at home or in the gym.

 

We believe in the minimal dose effect.

We don't ask you to do "cardio", train a new body part every day of the week, or follow diet dogma that leaves you chronically hungry and overly fixated on your food. 

We do less work, more effectively, with consistency. 

This is why creating a safe, strong foundation is so crucial. Once you've nailed the fundamentals, strength and conditioning comes easier and faster.
